One of the easiest ways to stay active and fit while in college is to join an intramural league team, where you can play with friends, dorm buddies, or random fellow students against other students.
While the leagues are strictly for fun, it’s a good way to stay social and is an easy way to relieve the stress that has mounted from classes. Any college with on campus living will have recreational leagues, and if it’s big enough, it’ll have competitive leagues too.
For most colleges, you can do a quick online search for their intramural programs, such as “IU intramural sports,” “Purdue intramural sports,” or “Ball State intramural sports,” and find a page that lists information about the leagues, any fees you might need to pay, and other important information. This web page will also have a Register/Signup tab where you can join in on the fun.
Here are some of the pages for in-state college:
- Indiana University http://www.recsports.indiana.edu/intramural-sports,
- Ball State University www.dosportseasy.com/bsu,
- Purdue University www.purdue.edu/recsports/programs/intramuralsports,
- Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis http://www.studentaffairs.iupui.edu/health-wellness/campus-rec/intramural-sports.
Intramural sports have grown in popularity over the years, and continue to grow today as the number of college students increases.
