MV football demolishes Marion

Story by: Connor Curts, staff writer

Last Friday, the Marauders football team traveled to Marion High School in Madison County to take on the Giants in week 2 of the season.

Coming off of a poorly played season opening game on August 21 at home versus Hamilton Heights, which they lost 21-6, the coaches had the team ready to play, and they stomped all over the Giants, winning 50-6.

Quarterback Jimmy Campbell completed 9 of 10 passes for 117 yards including 2 touchdowns, and he rushed for 99 yards scoring another 2 touchdowns. MV led the game 22-0 at the end of the 1st quarter, 43-0 at halftime, 50-0 at the end of the 3rd quarter, and finally gave up a touchdown to Marion with just .01 seconds left on the clock, and ending the game 50-6.

The Marauders start their campaign for the Hoosier Heritage Conference title on Friday September 4 at Greenfield-Central at 7:30pn. MV is now 1-1 on the year.
